Blees Piano offers piano lessons taught by Janet Blees. Janet has more than 37 years of experience teaching students from age 6 to 96.

As a mother and grandmother, Janet enjoys the exuberance of children, teenagers and adults.

Janet Blees possesses a Masters Degree in Music from Northern Illinois University. Her other interests include singing, hand bells, snorkeling, swimming, and boogie boarding.

He is a concert level piano technician, and has worked on pianos for concert artists including Emanuel Ax, Olga Kern, Misha Dichter, Peter Nero, Victor Borge, and Roger Williams, just to name a few. Willem has also tuned the piano for groups including Peter Paul & Mary, the Rolling Stones, the Beach Boys, Dolly Parton, and many others.

As part of his continuing education, Willem attended an in-depth three week concert level training seminar at the Steinway piano factory in New York City. He has also attended week long seminars offered by Baldwin, Kimball, and Mason & Hamlin.

Willem has attended more than 55 seminars and technical institutes with instructors from Yamaha, Kawai, Young Chang, Samick, Pearl River, and many other piano manufacturers.

Willem can take care of the cabinet of your piano. He has the tools, equipment, and experience to remove scratches, dents, and dings, as well as to polish the cabinetry. Willem can also service piano cabinets with a polyester finish.

The partnership between piano teacher and piano technician is strengthened when communication is strong. Whether it is learning about the different parts of the piano or understanding the uses of the teaching piano, when piano teachers and technicians work together, they can create the best sound and most responsive instrument. About Willem Blees

 Willem’s vast knowledge of pianos comes from being a Registered Piano Technician (RPT), with the Piano Technicians Guild (PTG). Since becoming an RPT in 1978, Willem has attended more than 55 seminars and technical institutes, not only as a scholar, but also as instructor. He is in constant demand across the United States and Canada teaching on topics ranging from basic tuning and regulating to voicing and rebuilding.

Willem Blees is the author of a book about his love for his business: The Business of Piano Tuning: A Guide to Marketing, Managing, Promoting, Buying and Selling a Piano Service Business. Willem’s book is the only one of its kind.

Willem has a Bachelors Degree in Music Education from Northern Illinois University and a Masters Degree in Music from the University of Illinois. He continues to participate in music by singing with the Oahu Choral Society, with his wife, Janet

Willem Blees is a second generation piano technician with more than 32 years of experience. Willem started working on pianos in his father’s shop at the age of 12. After college, he taught music for 7 years before starting his own piano tuning business in 1977.

No matter what make or model your piano is, Willem Blees has the experience and knowledge to take care of your piano. Willem is a factory-trained technician, and has attended seminars at Steinway, Baldwin, Kimball, and Mason & Hamlin. He has also received personalized instruction from factory technical representatives of Yamaha, Kawai, Wurlitzer, Kohler & Campbell, and Pearl River.
